 This week, we have been learning about verbs, nouns, and adverbs. So our teacher made us make a leaf and add verbs around it about what it is doing. So after that, we had to add adverbs. After that, we were able to make a gif about a leaf falling from a tree. I made my one a little weird. Here is my work

Ski Trip Photos

 Last week we went on our ski trip. Mrs B got a photo of me skiing. That day we had lessons on skiing so we could ski from the top of Happy Valley. We went skiing on Mt Ruapehu ski field. But first we rented our boots and skis. We stayed at Piper's Lodge. My favorite part about the trip was the lodge. The hardest part of the trip was skiing. Here is a photo of me.

Measuring Heads

 This week we have been learning about measuring. We were put in groups and we measured how big our groups head were. Also after we measured our groups head sizes we made a graph on who has the biggest head in the group. I liked making the graph. I found it hard to measure my groups heads.  The learning behind this task was to help us learn more about measurements. Here is my graph.

  

Plate Tectonics Experiment

Last week we did a experiment about tectonic plates, using homemade tomato and some wafers. We put a hole in one of the wafers and we pushed one of them over each the other. we grinded them side to side, we pushed them together. This caused an eruption from the wafer through the hole. I liked when the eruption happened. I found it hard pushing one wafer over the other. I learn't about how tectonic plates move and influence each other. Mt Ruaph Alarm Test Knowledge

Kia ora

Today we built Mt Ruapehu in the sandpit. We also made the Whangaehu River valley, the plain below the mountain and the railway bridge at Tangiwai. We wanted to learn how the lahar destroyed the bridge in 1953 causing the Tangiwai Disaster. Kora and Ariana poured lots of water into the crater we had made on top of our mountain. It whoosed down the side of the mountain and into the river valley. The bridge collapsed and bits of our train fell into the river. After that, we watched a short video about what do do if you are on Mt Ruapehu when the lahar siren sounds.  Now I know how to keep safe from a lahar if one happens when I am on a mountain.  Here is my Hazard Notice with the most important information.

Haast's Eagle

Last term we did a slide show about extinct birds. I was put in a group and our was the Haast's Eagle. Our teacher gave us six questions to answer by researching. We had to have separate slides for each person in our group. I found it easy to answering the questions. I found it hard get information for the answers. The learning behind this task was to help us learn about extinct birds in New Zealand. Here is my slide.

Matriki Myth Story

Last week, we made our own myth of why the seven stars are there. My myth is about seven brothers looking for their father. We could write about anything basically but it had to be around the topic of Matariki. I found it easy to write my story. I found it nothing hard on this activity. This week our teacher wanted us to write about meeting an alien. We could write about it anyway because it was free writing. I found easy writing my story. I found it hard to think of what the alien should look like. The learning behind this task was to do some free writing. Here is my work.

This week we listened to a book about aliens stealing underpants. So our teacher made us write our own version of that book. I made mine very stupid and weird so beware. This week our teacher got us into a group and gave us some activity about a article we read. I choose to do the first activity which is find the meaning of some of the words in the article. Peco Incident Slide

This few weeks we have been reading a book called The Peco Incident. it is about two boys that sneak into a farm and put photos on the web of what they saw. I choose for an activity to make a slide about the book. I found easy animating the slide. I found hard remembering what happened. Rhyming Couplet

This week and last week we have been doing rhyming couplet. We got a topic then we have to makeup a rhyming couplet. A rhyming couplet is two lines and each word at the end of the lines rhyme. I found it easy making up rhyme. I found it hard trying to make it make cents. The learning behind this task was to help us get better and rhyming. Here is my work.

Chicken Diva

Last week we did art about a book called Chicken Divas. This  book was about two chickens who sneak out every night to go dance at a club. But their friend found out so now they all go dance at the club. For the art we made our own Chicken Diva. I found it easy colouring it. I found it hard cutting it out. Last week we did writing about going to space. So this week we have to blog it. I found easy getting ideas about what ideas I should put in. I found hard thinking of good ways to lift my writing. The learning behind this task was to see how much we could get done with free writing and in our books. Here is my work.

Matariki Star

This week I have finished my star. I will tell you what I mean. Every Monday we do matariki work and this is one of them. We are going to hang the stars from the roof as decoration. This week for Maori we have done art. We traced or made our own symbols some don't mean anything. Anyway I chose to draw a dolphin for my work. I found it easy sketching the dolphin. I found it hard making patterns. The learning behind this task was to represent you or your family. But I didn't do that. Here is my work.

Multiplication Wheel

This week for maths we have been learning timetables. Today we have done an activity called Multiplication Wheel. I got no times tables wrong. I think I should work on my nines and eights. I found fun figuring out the questions. I found hard helping my buddy. The learning behind this task is to help us get better at multiplication.

Making Fake Whitebait Fritters

 This term for our novel study, Mrs A read us Whitebait Fritters which is a novel written by a Kiwi author Kingi McKinnon.  My favourite part in Whitebait Fritters was when the went fishing for whitebait because it tells you how to catch whitebait.

To wind up our learning we decided to make some fake whitebait fritters because we can’t afford to buy real whitebait. We used grated potato to take the place of whitebait and mixed it with eggs and onions. They were really tasty. Then we had to write out the recipe, put it on a Google Drawing and add some images. Onomatopoeia Firefighter

This week, we have been doing creative writing about our local superheros. I have made a google draw about a firefighter. I have also done 3 onomatopoeia about the type of noises they make.I found easy think of the noises they make. I found hard creating my fireman. This week we have been doing creative writing about our local superheros like firefighters, policemen, and many more. I have made a comic strip about firefighters saving the day.
