My progress 2017

Here is the progress I have made this year in Maths, Basic facts, Reading, Writing and Spelling. I think I did well with my Maths because I am almost finished Stage 5.

Pet Day

We made Vaseline sauces for art on Thursday. We used flowers and leaves for decorations. We drew on our plan on paper for ideas of what were going to do. When we were finished we got a photo with our Vaseline saucers.

I made a apple crab with my dad at home. We needed a knife, an apple and tooth picks. We watched a video on what to cut to make this crab.

Garden To Table

In Garden to Table when I was in kitchen. In the kitchen we learned how to cut lots of things. Then we cleaned all of the plates and forks. When I was in the garden we took out weeds and planted Little Gardens. Then the kitchen group made flat bread and dips and some mini muffins. All of the food was awesome and the best food in the world.

Rooster Crow

This week we read a story called why the rooster crows so early. I made a picture to show why.

Hot Air Balloon Art

For art we created Hot Air Balloons. We used pastel for the background. We used dye and black PVA glue for the balloon. We weaved the basket. My best part was colouring the background.

Maths strategy

Here is my maths strategy I am good at. I made a video about how to do it.

Skittles writing

In our skittles writing we were learning to use a range of words and phrases to add detail and give specific information. I need to do this in order next  time. I think i'm doing well with using adjectives to describe the skittles. I need to work on putting full stops.

Collaborative bird wings

We made collaborative feathers for a bird in our team. We needed chalk, white crayons and dye. We put all the feathers together into two wings for the bird in my class room. Here is our finished bird and me with wings.

kite poem

We made Kites out of flax sticks, newspaper and white tape. After we finished making them we flew our kites on the field. When we got back to class we wrote a poem about kites.

Measurement

We have been learning about measurement. Here is a video showing one thing I learnt.

Science Fair

We have been learning about Scientific Investigations. We learnt the scientific method. We shared our learning at the Ohaeawai School Science Fair.

Dr Seuss day

  Today is Dr Seuss day. 

We chose a Dr Seuss quote and illustrated it.

All creatures and small

Here is my topic slide from all creatures great and small. I made the slide with Anthony about eels.

Fractions

We have been learning about fractions. Fractions can be halves. A half can be a shape split into two equal parts. A fraction can also be parts of a number.

Paper Spinner

We made paper spinners for maths. We had to use our fraction and shapes knowledge to help us fold our spinner. We decorated our spinner with patterns and colours. We battled our spinners with a friend but I did't battle when I was playing hockey. When my spinner spins it looks awesome.

Silly sentences

We have been learning how to write sentences correctly. Simple sentences needs a subject and verb, it needs a capital letter and full stop. We wrote some silly sentences. I chose the best one and created an illustration to match.

Holiday Recount

Here is my recount about the Holiday.

Getting New Clothes

Bang my head hit the wood wall “awwwwww” I cried. My brother got up and said don't yell. I'm trying

to get some peace and quiet. It is now a minute later. Mum said “get on you lazy butts”. we are going son “ahhhhhh” we all said.  Can we stay here?  No! Only your brother can stay and help your dad at work. Then my sister and I were off to get some new clothes at K-mart. Playing games there,  I helped my sister get some clothes. For her it was a long time until she got some good clothes. She got a  t-shirt but Dulse got it. I got long pants for me then my mum bought a long sleeve t shirt.  One or two minutes later Lucy, my sister, and I looked at toys. But they were for babies.  So then we had to get two bags for me and my sisters.  Then Asher came to K-mart so we had to walk and see what he needs for school.  We bought him shorts, black ones because at his school when you are a big kid you can just wear black and white. Then we got some food from Subway.  I got a meatball sub that was really very good.  We also got a meat kebab.  Lucy liked ten kebabs.  They were good.  When we went home I slept in the car.  I got up at Kawkawa and  just sat up from there.  When I got home my brothers friend was there waiting for him on his bed playing war of tanks.  I played on the ps3. Lucy play with me when I got on it.   Then when mum came in we looked for a pig but he was not there.

Triathlon

The Triathlon  

Yay today is the triathlon. I packed my lunch and had a taste of drink. Then we were off to school. Broom went the old car.

When all of us went to class we did maths. Then we got into our swimming togs in the boys room and walked to the grass. We were playing tag. Then JT came to the field. I got a piggyback ride on JT’s back.

Finally the triathlon started. I swim the cold water. It got better on my second lap of the pool.

Next it was biking. Joe got in front of me on biking.

Finally it was the run and I came second. Jo walked so that’s how I came second because I was running around the back. When I got to the finish line I had an apple and got my big long towel to warm up.

Easter bunny art

We used marbling to create our background. Then we made patterns using sharpie on our rabbits. We added  some whiskers and glasses. Here is my Easter bunny.
